I know a number of people are sitting with this problem, and are waiting for a solution. I submitted a case to Support and the response was:
"Unfortunately the Web File connector has not yet been implemented in the new Cloud platform, Qlik Sense Business. The reason that this has been decided, is that the connector has been redesigned to be a separate connector away from Engine, as a separate connector service, in order to have better control and security over the data. Unfortunately there is currently no estimation on the release date of the connector at Qlik Sense Business.
As a workaround, Product Management has suggested the use of the REST connector, or any of the Web Connectors depending what kind of file you are trying to load data from.
We do apologize for any inconvenience that this might causing and please feel free to contact us in case further information is needed."
I am always in favour of security improvement, but a couple of things in the reply caught my eye:
1) Unfortunately there is currently no estimation on the release date of the connector at Qlik Sense Business.
2) The REST connector used to be the workaround, but the 'URL is' functionality was disabled also for security reason.
Has anyone found another workaround for the problem?
Oh i have the same problem ((((((
I find this a bit surprising and not a little disappointing, the first thing I want to load into cloud hosted apps are web files such as simple RSS feeds / XML. I now have to write something to collect the files, put them in google drive or similar and then I'll be able to load them. I'll be providing some feedback to product management on this one when I get the chance.
Hello @Rodj
I see April 2020 Qlik Sense Business still does not have a Web file connector. I am sure your 'feedback' was very much appreciated. Unfortunately it went straight into file 13, as soon as you left the room.
Hi @johngouws No doubt! Some things seem to take a long time to sink in at Qlik and often the prioritisation is hard to fathom. I'm thinking more likely the last release of the year if at all in 2020.
