We are trying out the free version of Qlik Sense Desktop (Win 7 environment), and really seem to like it. I have a question, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on it - When you run the Qlik_Sense_Desktop_setup.exe, it doesn't give any customization options. It looks like it installs and sets up the default app location at %UserProfile%\My Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps. This isn't a big deal for most users, but some of them work in the field, and they also have their My Documents location mapped to a network drive.
I tried checking the SenseDesktop.msi, the .exe switches, the registry, and within the program, but I can't seem to find a place to change the directory where it looks for your apps. All newly created apps automatically get dumped into the users My Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps folder. I understand that this is just a free version, but it would be nice to make that change for certain users.
Allard,
Did you make this work?
Anyone could set multiple folder to QLF directorties?
OLF - What is it?
Sorry ... I'm talking about the directory of QVF files.
i'm think it's not possible
Another option is to use "mklink" command. You can place your Apps or other files (logs, for example) to other drive/folder and "link" them to the original location without changing the configuration file.
I never tested it for sub-folders, but it might give you better options than changing settings.ini file...
VK
It did not work for me after adding DocumentDirectory field, it still point to the default path.
Alexander,
How do we do change the default location for extensions in settings.ini?
I did not do it. so I do not know the answer. I think the symbolic link play all you can do.
Karthikeyan,
Did you find a solution for this?
