Qlik Sense app on the internet & license utilization

Hello everyone,

We're investigating deploying one or more Qlik Sense apps on our external-facing website.  The actual deployment of the app seems fairly straightforward but my question concerns license utilization.  How will an app on the Internet affect our user license utilization?  Also, are there any specific settings on the server that will need to be turned on (or off) to allow this?

Thank you,

Michael

Below are user license details, based on your use case you can plan accordingly.

TypeToken EquivalentAccessReturning to PoolIdeal Scenario
User token1 Token = 1 UserUnlimited accessNot ApplicableFrequent and Heavy Usage Users
Login Access Pass1 Token = 10 Login Access Pass30 mins session28 daysLess frequent and Light Usage Users

At high level, you need to take care of all below stuffs:

  1. configure authentication & authorization for Qlik server to accept external users
  2. firewall
  3. URL & DNS - Make sure the reachability/accessibility from external network

You're right there are license issues to consider. If you a publishing it externally  with your normal authentication and you pinpointing the qlik licenses to your users then your old license model will still work.

If you are thinking of a public site where everyone should be able to access without authentication then you will need to look at a QAP server which have a capacity based licensing model. Thank you both for your replies; both are very helpful.

Now I am wondering if it would be possible to create an app in stream called StreamEveryoneAnonymous, then embed the app in the public website as indicated by this article: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/June2019/Subsystems/Platform/Content/Sense_PlatformOverv....  If so, is there a way to limit the number of tokens  that could be allocated to that stream?

I would recommend you to look at this support article, Qlik Sense: Anonymous Hub access on how to set up anonymous access. It also show how to limit the no of login access passes.
