I have a question concerning databases that QlikView may be connected to when the databases server OS is being patched. The IT folks want to know all the services and schemas QlikView might be using so they can kill them prior to patching. Is that necessary, to kill any QlikView process in progress from the database side?
Disclosure: I am not an IT person so please excuse my ignorance.
Regards,
John
Hello @johnca
If the Database would go down while a reload happens Qlikview would give you a error in the task on and the same time a possibility to restart it.
Another option is to stop all the qlikview services before you do the patching of the server OS of the DB.
Most important here is the distribution service, that one would do the reload.
Qlikview itself has all logic on disk in xml files. Not like Qlik Sense where all is in a Database. You have the possibility to move the Qlikview qvpr into a database for this you can check in the qmc if you have this option ticked, then its easier and better to stop all the services otherwise you will risk inconsistencies.
If your question was for qlik sense i can give you some more details on the databases used but here you definitively want to stop the services.
Best regards
Sebastian
