Reload Database in Hierarchical Mapper

I have created a Database object in "Meta-Data > Hierarchical Mapper > Databases" and imported all the Views and Tables into the "Structures" folder.

Now if a new View or Table gets added to the Database and I want to load the definitions into Talend, I right click on that Database and execute "[Re]Load Table Definitions...", after some waiting it tells me its finished, but nothing got updated or imported.

Is there some way to do that, without deleting all Structures and recreating the whole Database?

Max

Since the issue got closed, I guess it's not on the radar to be implemented any time soon, right?

Hi,

This one was closed because it was redundant, The old one https://jira.talendforge.org/browse/TDM-316 is still opened.

Hello everyone,

I am happy to have found your work around. But I am wondering how such a basic feature as metadata retrieval from a database is still not properly working?

Also it says in the wizard that the database functionality is deprecated and will be discontinued in future versions. How will it be replaced? Will it be integrated with the metadata of Talend Integration?

Regards.

Hi,

You can confirm with Talend support but according to me they will suggest you use database component at job level to replace this functionnality.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your response. That is what I am doing as well, using the database component on job level to write data into a database table. I did not feel that errors can be caught sufficiently, when using a database connection in the TDM.

But what I am looking for is a way to create TDM structures from database tables, as I have around 50 tables with up to 200 columns. Is there any other way to do so, besides the mentioned way?
