Qlik Sense GeoAnalytics map background image not showing + possibility of area

Hi everyone,

I'm followed this tutorial on the Qlik help website to add an image as background layer in the Qlik Geo Map visualisation: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/September2020/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Visualizations/Map/....

But I'm not able to see the example image provided on the help page and I think it has something to do with these parameters:

  • Set the Top left corner to 2.5 for Top (latitude) and -4.1 for Left (longitude).
  • Set the Bottom right corner to -2.5 for Bottom (latitude) and 4.1 for Right (longitude).

Can someone explain where I can find the correct Top, Left, Bottom, Right - Longitute & Latitute of every image I will use in the future?

Perhaps you can use this example? I have an image with a width of 1500px and a height of 500px? Where do I put the 1500px and where do I put the 500px?

Another related question I have is if it is possible to add area's instead of points on such images? I cannot seem to find any tutorials on that where areas are combined with custom images.

Thank you in advance!

I solved my own question by adding a demo QVF into Qlik Sense and look at the parameters there.
The demo can be found here: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Qlik-Sense-Documents/Top-10-Viz-tips-Qonnections-2019-Part-I/ta-p/1580... thanks to @Patric_Nordstrom

These settings worked for me:

Imagine your image is 1500px width & 700px height you need to fill in the fields like this:

  • Set the Top left corner
    • Top (latitude) : 700
    • Left (longitude) : 0
  • Set the Bottom right corner
    • Bottom (latitude) : 0
    • Right (longitude) : 1500

Just keep in mind (that is the reason why I tought it didn't work) you need to put another layer on the screen (point / area layer) actually see the image.

I'm still testing if I can add area's on my image instead of points.

Glad that it worked out.

You can add lines and areas as well as points. Sense geometries follows GeoJSON for Point, Linestring, Polygon and Multipolygon

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeoJSON#Geometries

Thanks,
