Curious which healthcare organizations are leaking your health data (PHI)? Behold the HHS Wall of Shame.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 292 breaches reported to HHS OCR. 35M+ people are affected from these breaches. Optum360 is responsible for the largest, with 11.5 million people affected.

Interesting info:

• The top 2 were both customers of AMCA, who had the breach.  "...Optum 360 is responsible for the largest" is not entirely true. 
• "Individuals affected per state" is misleading, The state doesn't tie to the individuals it ties to covered entity.

Good points!

1. While the Covered Entity was listed as Optum360, the breach certainly could have been for their particular customers, yet as they are under a BAA (business associate agreement) they are the covered entity ultimately responsible. 

2. I'll update the app in future versions to reflect that the States represent the HQ for the covered entity. Affected individuals could be anywhere in the US (though they are often located near their healthcare providers).
