Add Watermark in excel export from Qlik

Hi All,

When we use the Download the Excel option in Qlik, a temporary excel file is generate on the server through the link.

It is possible to automatically add a watermark to the excel file during or after the export process?

If yes, what approach or customization can bs used to achieve this.

Regards,

MD

Hi @BoB_Qlik_Support

Natively, I don't think you can when using the download as data (Excel).

Are you looking for a solution to QSEoW or Qlik Cloud?

Check the extensions below:

https://github.com/iviasensio/SmartExport

https://logiexport.logsys.co.il/

I hope that helps!

Hi @Eduardo_Monteiro

Thank you for the clarification and for sharing the extension references.

Our requirement is for Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows (QSEoW). We understand that native “Download as Excel/Data” functionality currently does not support watermarking.

We will review the SmartExport and LogiExport solutions to evaluate whether watermarking/custom Excel post-processing can be implemented through those extensions.

Our primary requirement is to automatically apply:

1. Confidential watermark

4. Custom text

during or after Excel export generation as per bank compliance policy.

Thanks again for the guidance.

You can also check out https://www.regarden.io/   , they are other excel related 3rd party extensions including both free and paid options, that you can try out.

Hi Team,

We have a requirement to implement IRM features (Microsoft Sensitivity Labels / Microsoft Information Protection) for reports generated and exported from Qlik Sense.

We understand that native watermarking and IRM capabilities are not available in Qlik Sense exports. Additionally, due to project constraints, the use of third-party extensions is not permitted.

We would like to understand if anyone has implemented or explored any of the following approaches:

1. Integration of Microsoft Sensitivity Labels / Microsoft Purview with Qlik Sense exported reports (Excel/PDF).

2. API-based solutions to apply security controls, sensitivity labels, watermarking, user details, export timestamp, or document protection on exported reports.

3. Any supported architecture, best practices, or custom implementation patterns for securing exported reports generated from Qlik Sense.

Any guidance, implementation experience, architecture recommendations, or references would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,

BoB Support Team
