Connecting form elements to Qlik Server

I am putting together a boilerplate react application with the plan to provide the following:

  1. Ability to embed Qlik components within the page (is `<iframe>` the right way to do this?)
  2. A pop-out side menu which can contain filters to the data and switches for the visualizations

My question is, how should these form elements in the sidebar be connected to the Qlik Server for these to work together?
