Explain box plot median calculation

I'm getting different values when comparing the middle value of a box plot and the calculation of median of the same data. I traced it down to the default equation for the box plot median value.

However, i don't really understand what all the fields are doing.

This is the equation in the box plot that calculates the median:

=Median( total <[Line]> Aggr( calculated_delay, [Line], [=calculated_delay] ) )

I know "Aggr( calculated_delay, [Line])" groups the calculated_delay by the Line, but i don't quite understand what '[=calculated_delay]' or the 'total <[Line]>' does.

Can anyone explain this for me?
