Importing cubes to Excel via Add-in

Hi everybody,

I am really new to Qlik and I'm not sure if Qlik provides this function: I'm working with Oracle data sources and I would like to import multi-dimensional cubes into Excel via an Add-In. Is such an add-in provided by Qlik?

I ask this because it is a normal function in Jedox. But I would like to use all the Advantages of Qlik as well.

So: is it possible to load via an Add-In my cubes into Excel and to prepare it there with some Qlik functions? Or is Qlik too based on its own surface?

I hope you can understand my questions and will answer soon.

With the best regards!

You might want to check out the NPrinting tool which is used for generating reports based on Qlik data in static formats like Excel. More information can be found here:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/17.3/Content/Introduction/Introduction.htm

There is also at least one company (Akquinet) I know of that has written a plugin for Excel that allows you to interact with Qlik Sense data directly in a spread sheet. It's been a while since I had a look at that solution, but you can find more information about it here:

http://www.akquinet.de/AKQNEU/BI-NEU/Flyer/ak_Datenblatt-Sense-Excel-GE-Webview.pdf

It's in German though, and I'm not sure if there is an English version available.

Hi,

thanks for your answer! I was really pleased by Sense Excel. I'll try to get more Information about this product.

But I'm confused right now: An employee of Qlik told me, that the N Printing is normally used to standardize Reports and to export them always at the same date.

But in the description they say "Full Microsoft Office integration allows you to build report templates in the native Office interface." - so Iam able to use Qlik in Excel with the Qlik N Printing? And I can just import my cubes to Excel then?

Thank you in advance!

NPrinting is used to generate static reports based on data from Qlik Sense (or QlikView), so it is not possible to interact with the data in the reports as you would in Qlik Sense. It won't, for instance, be possible to filter the report based on selections, or at least you will be bound to the filtering functionality of the reporting system you have exported to. NPrinting allows you to export to a number of different tools include the standard Microsoft Office tools of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

One of the things you can do with NPrinting is to dump the data of hypercubes for visualizations into a table in Excel. Another way get the data into Excel is to simply right-click on a visualization of interest and select "Export data". This will give you an Excel file with a table containing the data for that visualization. There are also APIs available to do this programatically if you like: ExportData method ‒ Qlik Sense
