KPIs are great for understanding where you are, but can they guide you on what actions to take next? 🔎 In his new article, Qlik's Dalton Ruer advocates for improved visualization of dimensional relationships in data dashboards, arguing that focusing solely on KPIs neglects crucial contextual information.

To get the points across, he uses a fictional company, Dorkweiser, to illustrate the following:

🔴 Standard bar charts fail to show relationships between dimensions like sales locations and divisions.

🟠 Sankey diagrams are a superior alternative for visualizing these relationships, though their complexity can be a drawback.

🟢 The Decomposition Tree visual, available in Qlik Sense through our extension, offers a more user-friendly solution that maintains context while highlighting key dimensional impacts — Dalton even included a short video showcasing this in action!
