After the upgrade to QlikView 12, it is not possible to load the data from web files (URL). This problem can occur both with QlikView Desktop and QlikView Server. You are able to connect to the same URL from a browser.
Loading the content from the same URL was working in QlikView 11.20. The problem occurs during the reload process, which fails and affects any kind of web files, not only images.
The problem can be due to a setting that has been changed after the upgrade to QlikView 12.10 releases.
To resolve the problem, you first need to upgrade to QlikView 12.20 or higher releases.
After the installation of QlikView 12.20, you will need to add the following configuration in the Settings.ini file:
WebFileUseWinAPI = 1
You can open the Setting,ini file with a test editor and add the parameter. You may need to stop the QlikView services to be able to modify the file for QlikView Server.
The setting.ini file for QlikView desktop can be found here: %appdata%\QlikTech\QlikView
For QlikView server it is in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer on the machine where the QlikView Server is installed.
You must change the setting also for the QDS service and the QlikView Batch. The .ini files are saved in:
%appdata%\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch
The problem is due to a changed setting in QlikView 12. Web files use a third-party library to connect to the Internet and download files. This implementation does not support automatic proxy configuration. The result is that the proxy is bypassed and the connection to the Internet fails to be established from the web file within QlikView Data Load editor.
More details about this parameter are documented in QlikView November 2017 Release Notes at. Refer to section Known issues and limitations > Connection to the Internet through web files when using an Internet proxy
