Issues accessing QMC after installing Qlick Sense Enterprise on Windows Server 2022 Azure VM

Hi all,

I was trying to install a Qlik Sense Enterprise software (May 2024 version) on a Windows Server 2022 Azure VM. I installed the PostgreSQL 16 database in the same server.

Everything is installed successfully, but when I try to open the QMC portal, I got an "Internal Windows Authentication" box. When I put the Qlik Admin user credentials, the box appears again and again.

I tried with different browsers (edge and Chrome) and I tried to disable the "internal windows authentication" box, but I couldn't find how.

In the Qlik logs, I found the following messages in the Proxy:


39 20241126T141133.915+0000 WARN vm-qliksense-pr System.Proxy.Proxy.DefaultModules.Authentication.WindowsAuthenticationRequestHandler 34 75a3c59b-21e2-4cf1-9575-e741735aacd2 vm-qliksense-pr\qlik-admin Failed to acquire user principal name from directory services The LDAP server is unavailable.↵↓The server could not be contacted. at System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.LdapConnection.Connect()↵↓

 

After looking alternatives for hours, I don't know what else to try.

I am a little bit surprised because I follow the step by step installation which is quite straightforward. I didn't find any related issues in the Internet.
Any ideas?

Try using https://localhost/qmc

This will authenticate you with the current logged on user credentials.

Hey there @pmolinari ,
During the installation did you see which host name was recognized by the installer? I'm not sure it's still the case, but in the past a very long hostname was recognized and if you didn't change it the installation would succeed but you wouldn't be able to login.
If this is the case, my suggestion would be to re-install (or proceed with a hostname change).

Try using https://localhost/qmc

Hi guys, first, thanks for your quick answers.

@rzenere_avvale , the hostname recognised during the installation is: vm-qliksense-pr.internal.cloudapp.net. It doesn't seem to be a very long URL.

@p_verkooijen , I reinstalled the app but this time I enabled HTTP access for qlik user. Then I tried to login with the localhost URL and it works as you said!:

1. when I log in using: http://localhost/qmc or https://localhost/qmc, as you said, I was able to successfully log in.

2. when I log in using: https://vm-qliksense-pr.internal.cloudapp.net/ I got the same problem than before. It shows me a internal_windows_authenticaiton box that doesn't work with any credentials:

3. when I connect form my local computer to the public URL, this time I got a 400 error response from Quik,  "HTTP Request Header is incorrect" :

What should I do to access the server from outside the server?

That's indeed the wrong hostname @pmolinari. From an old installation guide link:

I still advise to re-install, without the internal.cloudapp.net.

Hi @rzenere_avvale ,

I reinstalled the server without the internal.cloudapp.net but unfortunately, it didn't work:

Now it doesn't work the "localhost" access either.

I will reinstall it again using the cloudapp.net URL, so I can have at least "localhost" access. Thanks for your help anyway!

@p_verkooijen I'm using Azure, not QlikCloud. It doesn't seem to be needed any IP whitelisting in Azure, is it?

Just to be sure, when you uninstalled you did remove everything or did leave something? There's a tick on the uninstall process to do so

@rzenere_avvale yes! I removed everything, included ceritificates. I ticked all the options.

@p_verkooijen very well. I will save this link for future usage. I'm waiting for the License from the customer so I don't have access to QMC right now.
