Qlik Sense - Service Account

Hi Experts,

@Damien_V  @Ranganath_DR  @ToniKautto

During previous earlier Qlik sense installations, we have registered qs_sysadmin as the qlik sense service account. We also use the same account to register as Qlik Sense Hub & QMC admin account with root admin right and occupy a professional license.

Now, we plan to assign the professional license to another account. So, we want to check with you if the qlik sense service account requires the root admin right/professional license? If doesn't require, then can I direct assign the professional license to another account which won't cause any impact?

Can any one suggest on this?

Thank you.

Hi,

You can deallocate the license from the qs_sysadmin account but if you have used it in the last 7 days it will not be released immediately. It has a quarantine period of 7 days so post that you can assign it to any other user in qmc. Note that after you do this, you will not be able to open the apps in hub using this account. You will get a pop-up saying : You do not have an access pass. You can still open hub and view streams and app icons inside it if you have the permissions.

Do not remove root admin access from this account if it is running your Qlik Sense services. It is required for configuration.

Hi Congrid,

I would like to know if the root admin access will require Professional license. Please advise.

Thank you.

In general, you need to assign a license for any user that accesses the HUB. So if you have a root admin that is only accessing the QMC, no license is needed.
