Hi
We have recently upgraded our qlikview software from version 12.10.201 SR3 to 12.80.202 SR2.
Since the upgrade when we open the start menu and click on the qlikview 12 icon it is trying to load the old version 12.10.201 SR3 and gives an error.
We have been able to create a shortcut on the desktop to open the new version of qlikview but would like to be able to remove the old link from the start menu and have the new version opening from there.
I would love to know why this has happened - is this an installation/upgrade issue and how can this be resolved.
Any help appreciated
Hi @lisab80
Are you referring to QlikView Server or QlikView Desktop? Please provide a video or series screen captures of the issue along with the error that is returned.
Best Regards
Hi Chip_Matejowsky
We have a server that hosts qlikview - the server version was updated to the new version with no issues.
When the desktop version was updated on the server I thought the start menu would update to the new version as well but when I try to open I get the error
See screenshots attached
Thanks
Thanks for the further clarification. I suspect something went sideways during the upgrade of QV Desktop. There may be some pertinent information in the QV Desktop installation log and you can review it for further details. By default, the QV Desktop installation logs are stored in the Temp folder of the user running the installation executable file, located at %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp. The log file is named QlikViewx64.wil. A new log file is generated and overwrites the previous one each time an installation is executed.
Best Regards
Thanks for the reply I was able to locate the file - is there an area in particular I should be looking as the file contains alot of information.
Also in regards to a fix would the solution be to install again, or uninstall and then reinstall?
Many thanks
Hi later versions of QlikView Desktop requires admin privileges to start. Have you tried right clicking and run as administrator?
I wasn't involved in the install process but when I checked with the person who completed the install it was run as administrator.
