Hello everyone,
I am looking to connect with users who are familiar with the "Large Apps" feature in Qlik Cloud and have some hands-on experience with it. I have two specific questions regarding quota management:
1. Quota and Safety Margin (Buffer) If I have a Large Apps quota of 20 GB, can I actually host exactly 20 GB of application data? Or is it strictly necessary to leave a safety margin (buffer space) for the engine to function properly, particularly for user caching or sessions?
2. Reloading outside a "Large Apps" space and quota impact Let's assume my 20 GB Large Apps quota is already almost maxed out at 100% (for example, completely filled by a large application). If I try to reload another app in a standard space (where the Large Apps option is NOT enabled), and the resulting app exceeds the standard 5 GB limit, what happens?
My goal: I only want to perform this reload in the standard space to estimate the app's final size in RAM, in order to decide whether or not I can publish it later.
My concern: I know I won't be able to open or consume this app in the standard space since it exceeds the limit. However, I want to be sure that the reload action won't impact the production app (or be blocked by) my Large Apps quota which is already full.
Thanks in advance for your insights and feedback!
For 1, it counts max app size, and it doesn't account for user sessions or caches.
For 2 note that the scheduled reload limit is 34GB at peak, in your case, if that 20GB app doesn't use over that number while reloading, you don't need to perform the reload on a large app engine. If it does use more than 34GB, then yes, your app will need to be placed on a space enabling large app support and the reload will happen on an available large app engine, and if there are none, the reload will fail.
These and other questions are addressed here: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Admin/large-app-support....
Hello, thanks for your answer
1) OK, thanks
2) My point is, I know we can reload an application over the standard quota on a space where Large Apps is not activated. (For example, if your quota is 5Go and you buy 20Go of Large Apps, you can reload apps of more the 5 Go in a space where the Large Apps is NOT activated (For me it's a defect but it happens).
My point is : is having Apps larger than 5Go in a space where Large Apps is NOT activated will block App is space where Large Apps is activated ?
It will not block the large app consumption. As you can see in the article I posted, even when the space is set to support large apps, if the app does not exceed the threshold, it will not consume from your large app allowance. If your app is 310MB in RAM, and stored in a space that supports large app, when this app opens, your large app allowance will remain available 100%.
Ok thanks, my question was more specific :
if you have a Large Apps Quota of 20 Go, and your only Qlik Cloud Large Apps has a size of 19,9 Go.
Will it works if 70 users uses it ? Or Will it crashes because you have to anticipate other memory consumption such as users caches in the 20 Go Quota ?
