Hi Everyone!
I need to replace a central node with a new one, on a different server. Whats the best aporoach? The repository and logging service is running on the same server and the current version of PostgreSQL is 9.6
Thsnks!
The article below is for changing the host name, but also works for moving to a new server. But you have to make backups and move everything over first.
Thanks for the answer. In this particular case I need to move from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019. I have installed a new central node now, but I need to add the certificates and the databases as well. As the Central Node is a very important piece of the architecture, I need to think of everything as it is a Production Enviroment.
The article above describes how to move you database and change the name. I am assuming that the server will have a new name. This includes moving the database and changing the certificate.
There will be some downtime when you switch over. You can't have the rim nodes connected to two central nodes at the same time.
I believe this one is a better way to solve the issue: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Knowledge/Migrating-Qlik-Sense-April-2018-to-a-new-server/ta-p/1713148 but is this working for Windows Server 2012 -> 2019, with Qlik Sense 2021 August version? What kind of certificates do you need, if you want to re-enter all password for the used connections?
You are right, that article does describe your situation better.
The windows version should not matter here
This article is actually more detailed and it does explain about the certificates.
I have not yet restored the database. I cant login into the QMC/HUB now. Its complaining that the certificates are missing; HTTPS SSL. If I could login into QMC, I could enter the thumbnail from the certificate in the QMC. I wanted to make sure that everything was working before the restore of the database. Any idea here?
If you don't have a certificate defined in the thumbprint in the QMC it defaults back to the self signed certificate. So you should be able to log in and set it.
Have you restored the certificates that the services use to talk to each other as well as the certificate that the proxy presents to the browser?
I cant log in .. it says that I dont have any certificates ?
