Hi Friends,
We have recently lost our remote server where we had Qliksense Enterprise installed. Server is not Turning ON due to Hardware/Disk failure. Server was not a VM and we dont have uptodate backups for our Qliksense apps/data/repository.
We are looking for recovery options but not sure whether we will be able to recover everything.
If we are able to recover, What should be our next steps to get our Qliksense working again on a new VM?
Can someone please share step by step process to restore Qliksense in a new machine.
Hi prrajendran,
Here is the step-by-step process:
Create a folder named 'SenseShare' and make sure it is shared.
Restore the app backup into the folder you created in step 1.
Install Qlik Sense on the new server (you can use your previous version or the latest one). Pro tip: it is extremely important to uncheck the option to start Qlik Sense services automatically after the installation is finished. (TIP: please don't forget this part!).
Restore the Postgres (repository) backup.
Go to the QlikSense Util folder (usually at C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense\Repository\Util\QlikSenseUtil) and run the QlikSenseUtil.exe file.
Click on "Connect to database" and enter the postgres username and password.
Click on "Service Cluster" and update all fields with the share name you created in step 1.
Start ONLY the "Qlik Sense Repository Database" service.
Access Postgres via the command prompt.
Update the ServerNodeConfigurations table in the QSR database by entering the new server name in the Hostname field.
Finally, restart the Qlik Sense Repository Database services and start others services in the correct order.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or run into any issues.
Best regards,
Marco"
Hi prrajendran,
Could you please let me know if you are using an Active Directory service account or a local account?
Regards,
Marco
Hi Marco,
Thank you so much for your response.
We had MFA applied on our Qliksense onprem. AZURE directory.
Hi Marco,
Thank you for the step by step process.
After all these steps you said to restart the Repository Database services and other services in the order.
Will this bring back our Qliksense Hub as it was before? I mean all the apps with the last reloaded data/updated layouts and their relevant streams? And all the reload tasks that we had before?
In some apps, we had Inphinity Forms. will that also work if we had the FORMS xml backup?
Also, while starting Repository service, a pop up will appear saying that the other 4 service will also start by starting Repository service. Will i be able to skip that?
How about licensing? We had MFA configured in our QMC. Will all the users have their access as before?
Last question, some help documentation mentioned that we have to have same OS version and QS version in the new server to restore. is that the case?
Please can you explain these bits?
