Seeking Validation: Backup Checklist for Upgrading to Qlik Sense November 2025 (Shared Persistence)

Hi everyone,

I am currently preparing for an upgrade to Qlik Sense November 2025 (Shared Persistence) and am following the official Qlik Help documentation.

Based on my review, I’ve compiled the following backup checklist. I would appreciate it if the community could validate if I am missing any critical locations or steps.

1. Certificates

  • Full export of Qlik Sense certificates (including private keys) from the MMC (Computer Account).

2. Repository Database Dumps (PostgreSQL)

I plan to run pg_dump for the following databases:

  • QSR
  • SenseServices
  • QSMQ
  • Licenses

3. File Share (Shared Root Folder)

  • Full backup of the folder specified in QMC > Service Cluster (e.g., C:\QSRoot), ensuring \Apps, \ArchivedLogs, and \StaticContent are included.

4. Supporting Content & Configuration Files

I have identified the following local server paths for backup. Are there any specific service-level configuration files or sub-folders I might be missing here?

  • Logs & Bundled DB Configs: C:\ProgramData\Qlik
  • Connectors & Data Connections: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Qlik
  • Service Configs: C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense (specifically checking for modified .config files in Repository, Proxy, and Scheduler folders).

5. Question on Centralized Logging (QLogs)

I noticed that the February 2020 documentation mentioned backing up the QLogs database, but this is absent from the November 2025 guide.

  • Is it safe to assume QLogs is no longer required for a modern upgrade due to the deprecation of Centralized Logging, or should I still include it as a precaution?

Any advice or "lessons learned" from those who have already moved to the 2025 releases would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Poonam

Hello @pnkulwal

What is your current Qlik Sense Server version? What is your current Postgres version? Is the postgres standalone or Qlik Sense built-in? What is your OS version? Is it single or multi-node?

"QLogs" is deprecated its safe to discard it.
