Unknowing Upgrade of Postgres to version 18 on Qlik Sense Enterprise Windows - May 2024

Hi Qlik experts and Qlik Support,

We have a situation were on the server hosting the installation of Qlik Sense Enterprise Windows (May 2024), an installation of Postgres version 18 was carried out and now thUnknowing Upgrade of Postgres to version 18 on Qlik Sense Enterprise Windows - May 2024e Qlik Sense hub and QMC not coming up. At first, did not know about the installation/upgrade of the Postgres (as well node.js) by another team for some other dev purposes.

Can anyone advice what are my options? Even if I have to carry out a fresh installation on another server, is it possible to get the qvf files or any other settings from the environment despite not being able to open either of the hub and qmc.

I will also try to get the last log files and attach if that can provide more context

Thanks

Regards,

Ayodele

Your QlikShare folder will most likely be on your qliksense server (or network file share). This will contain all your apps/models.

Check if there was a backup done on Postgres before the upgrade, if you can get a copy of the QSR db, you can recover your environment, albeit, you will need to install Qliksense on new server, with new (empty db), and restore the QSR. (install same Qliksense version as current).

Check if you can get all 4 Db's

  • QSR
  • SenseServices
  • QSMQ
  • Licenses

Hi there,

Postgres db v18 is not supported by QlikSense (inclu. latest Qsense version-Nov2025).

Are you running on a stand-alone Postgres (multi-instance), or is your Qliksense server shared with another application, that required this upgrade.

Hi @SivenM2020,

Yes, I was able to figure that Qlik Sense is not supported on Postgres 18.

Yes, before the installation of the Postgres, I was running Qlik sense on a stand alone (actually de-bundled).  The Postgres 18 is meant for another application. I doubt if running Qlik Sense on the same server will work.

But will it be possible to retrieve the qvf files or any other Qlik sense back up files?

Regards

Hi @SivenM2020

Thanks for the response and tagging me back on the Qlik help page to restoring a Qlik Sense site.

Yes, I do have the Qlik shared folder as well and will check to reclaim the apps/models.

I should still be able to find the last back up for QSR to restore on the new installation but will ensure to take backups on periodically basis to avoid having to loose all the logs in between the last unbundling activity and this recent unfortunate circumstance.
