NPrinting Log Viewer

Attached is a QlikView app to analyse the log files generated by NPrinting v16.

Note -The attached App requires a QlikView desktop licence to open and is not compatible with Personal Edition.

The app has been purged of all data, so you will need to set the location of your NPrinting log files on the Configuration tab and then reload your data into the app for it to work.

The Event List box is generated by parsing the message text through a series of wildmatch() expressions in the load script to categorise the entries in the log file. You can modify the script to add further Event categories.

The text objects above the main chart have Actions which set various filters to select the range of events and dates.

The Source filter allows you to select logs generated by service events or logs generated from the NP Desktop app.

Version2 now includes the Parent Schedule, Message Type and additional charts.

This app is a "work in progress" but has proved useful in checking the NPrinting tasks we use internally and on our customer sites.

Hi Colin,

I have a VM with NP 17.1.2 installed and there are 3 logs:

1. Engine (produce the reports based on information sent to them from the scheduler)

2. Scheduler (The scheduler service performs the following tasks:

• distributes jobs among available engines
• manages job prioritization
• delivers reports
• schedules jobs

     )

3. Web Engine (The web engine manages user authentication and authorization based on user roles)

Hi All,

I have some issues while using this qvw.

for example,

I have customized this qvw as per my requirement.

So the parent schedule list box would be having only .nsq files. and have created one more field called Task schedule where it has all non .nsq files. now in my Parent schedule I have a value as 'External Vendor Reporting' and for this .nsq job we have related tasks. but if i select 'External Vendor Reporting' value in Parent schedule non of the Task schedule values are enabled.

Is there a way to derive "session duration" from the NPrinting log? That is to say, could we identify when user login and when they logout?

like how many total task are available in each NSQ, how many task have being completed successfully and how many task have being failed within the same NSQ...
