Hello,
Qlik Data Gateway's documentation states that Qlik Data Gateway shouldn't be installed on the same server as Qlik Sense or DataTransfer, but offers no explanation as to why this is the case:
Do not use a server that already has Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows or Qlik DataTransfer installed.
Is this a hard limitation (Qlik Data Gateway cannot under any circumstances coexist on the same machine as Qlik Sense on Windows) or it is more of a suggestion to prevent Qlik Sense, DataTransfer and Data Gateway competing for resources on the same machine?
If it is a hard limitation, is there any further explanation as to why this is the case?
Hello @danabb @Luis_Arocho-LLantin
I have been investigating this and worked on some Support cases and there are mainly 2 reasons why this needs to be avoided.
I hope this adds clarity.
Cheers,
Albert
Hi Danabb
Its because of competing for resources and to avoid issues with certificates. It is best to keep it separated.
Thanks!
Hello,
Is there any way to "avoid issues with certificates" (as there is with Data Transfer) other than installing in a different machine?
Are there any other conflict with, say, Nprinting?
Just to provide a use case: a customer might have the need to connect some on-premises databases AND some files: Data Gateway takes care of the first, but Data Transfer is required for the files.
In cases like this, provided that a single machine can handle both workloads, maintaining two different servers for the only purpose of "pushing data to the cloud" can seem a bit redundant.
Hi Danabb
You might be able to get it installed in the same server but if you ever need support they are going to take a look at the recommendations coming from Research & Development.
Thanks,

Hello Danabb!
Did you get any concrete answers on this point?
doing a POC about it and this is a very pressing question...
Hello @ramonneto,
On what exact question are you looking for an answer?
Cheers,
Albert
Hello @ramonneto,
I am not currently aware of issues within the certificates, but I do know about the other two topics I did mentioned:
And the 1st point is specially important.
Please take my original answer as the correct one for this topic.
