Data Spaces for Analytics QVDs and Data Gateway connections

We are in the process of migrating from on-premise to a cloud environment. We had set up our QVDs to be stored in a data space and our connection to Data Gateway is also set up in a data space. We have a few other data connections set up this way as well.

We were just told by others that we should not have set up our data spaces this way.

Is it true that data spaces are only intended for Data Integration work and not for Analytics? If so why do we have access to use them if they are not intended as such?  What is the purpose of Data Spaces and how are they intended to be used?

Hi @MConlon ,

you have access to Data Spaces because, in the beginning, there was some confusion and customers starting using them. For that reason, we allow access to them even with QDA-only licenses, to avoid breaking down other old customers' workflows.

However, they are not meant for the purpose you describe, and we don't recommend it.
We might, in the future, alert customers that they will see their data space access removed, and we'll give them time to reconsider their workflows.

I hope this clarifies it!
