Folder connection is not available in QlikSense 3.2

Dear Community,

We have just purchased QlikSense, but do not see a Folder connection within connections, even using a Root admin account.

How do we connect to a windows network drive then?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Kumar,

Thank you. So it looks like we are missing a way to supply user credentials for a share.

Hi Anton,

glad to help.

I'm not aware of any way to provide user credentials for folder connections through Qlik...

As a workaround you could for mount the directory on the server and try to see if that way Qlik can see it (note that services restart may be required)

Hi RIcardo,

Thank you. I would suggest that Qlik needs a few improvements:

1) More informative error messages;

2) Folder is named Files in the Wizard, which confuses a lot;

3) Ability to supply credentials;

Meanwhile we have made a workaround by restricting the IP of the specific Qlik machine to only one share and publishing it for a guest, it works. But this is not the most secure way.

Hi Anton,

I'm having the same problem and you've done a good job explaining your situation.  I especially appreciate your summary of the issues with the data connection wizard:

(as you said above)

1) More informative error messages would be helpful

2) Folder is named Files in the Wizard, which is very confusing

3) Ability to supply credentials essential when shared folder is password protected

If the network shared folder is protected with a username and password, there is no way to see it or connect to it through the data connection wizard.

If you find a solution to this problem, please let me know please.

Best regards,

Pam
