Null value explanation

Can someone tell me why I see null values in one bar chart and not the other?  Seems simple but can't figure it out.

For the first bar chart, dimension Encounter Payor Name, has one valid value, 9. This links through the key field value of 7 in epic_data table, which links to pat_id_key of 1, which in turn links to patient table with a value of 1. In this table, there is only 1 patient ID.

For the second chart, you are only working in the epic_data table, so if you count Encounter Patient ID, you have nulls. You can remove these in the properties panel under the dimension by Deselecting Include null values checkbox.

why do the null values not link through key value = 2?

Here's another test app.  To me this is the same case but it's working differently. I see null values in both bar charts regardless of using the associated table.

Lisa,

Does my first question make sense in regards to the first app nullValue check?: "why do the null values not link through key value = 2?"

The second app is just showing that nulls are showing regardless of using the link table or not.
