Qlik Sense Desktop

Hallo

Meine Firma nutzt QLIK Sense  Enterprise und ich soll QLIK als Datenanalyst nutzen.  Deshalb wollte ich zusätzlich  auf meinem  privaten PC Qlik Sense Desktop  zu Übungszwecken installieren. Ist das möglich und sinnvoll??  Ich kenne das von PowerBI Dektop und es hat mir sehr geholfen.

Qliksense Desktop is not available for enterprise version. However, you can use trial version of qlik sense desktop.

Actually, yes, you could but you don't win much, everything you do on the desktop you can do directly in the hub of your environment.

However, if you want to try it, keep in mind that you have to connect you desktop to your production environment for it to take the license.

I will only use the Enterprise version and get into Click Sense. Since my experience was with Excel & PowerQuery /DAX/ PowerBi Desktop , I'm still having trouble finding my way around the QLIK Sense environment at the moment. With PowerBi Desktop I was able (without training) to create meaningful dashboards & analysis in a short time, since PowerQuery is part of Excel. I am not yet able to implement my PowerBi template in QLIK (despite some training), it feels like everything is more complicated in QLIK, as there is no tool similar to Power Query. Maybe there are some hints for newcomers from the Excel/PowerBi world.

Well, the first thing you have to understand is that the approach of the tool is a little different than powerBI. For me, even when a developer makes some sheets & charts for users, it is much easier for the end user to make their own sheets and charts for the data model that the app has.

To achieve this for end users, things like what you do in powerBI to overlay objects that could be done in the old Qlikview can not be done by default in Qlik Sense. Here the concept of less is more is important and we must not try to abuse overloading sheets and the visual of the users.

Another difference is that Qlik has been an End-to-End tool, which means that everything from the extraction, through the transformation and finally the load can be done in Qlik without resorting to other tools.

My suggestion is that even though YouTube is full of tutorials, Qlik's continuous classroom has some free basic content you need to take your first steps.

The main purposes of using Qlik Sense Desktop is to be able to work offline, when you are not connected to the server or any network (you will need to connect to the server at least once every 10 days)

Another purposes, at least if you have a powerful machine, is to do heavy reloads for testing purposes without having to stress the server.

If you don't have these needs, you can just work on the hub.
