When installing the newest Update of QlikSense we got stuck at the point "Upgrading Repository Database". Currenty the installer is running for about 3 hours and still hasnt got further.
Is this a common problem? I couldnt find any information regarding this topic.
Hi Jack,
For my case, this is the log I'm getting:
Action 16:35:45 77 Initializing QSMQ, SenseServices and Licenses databases in PostgreSQL or checking if they already exists.
Action 16:35:45 77 Initializing 'QSMQ' database or checking if already exists
Action 16:35:45 78 Verifying any existing databases exist.
Action 16:35:45 78 NoExistingDatabaseCheck: Checking if database 'QSMQ' exists using PostgreSQL dir 'C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense\Repository\PostgreSQL\12.5\bin\'.
FYI, we already upgraded the PostgreSQL to version 14 using QPI. Not sure why the installer is still checking for the 12.5 folder.
I'm also upgrading from May 2023 to Aug 2023.
I'm already on Postgresql 14.8 standalone and same issue here upgrading from Aug2023 to Nov2023. 3 hours and counting.
Those are the last 3 rows of log:
MSI (s) (5C:EC) [15:30:30:157]: Source for file 'filFFFE73025CEC368C7B2EEA7CFF76399C' is compressed

We upgraded from May to August by deinstalling the patches to May Initial. Then we deinstalled the old repository service and installed August. This worked for us.
Hello @KHSDM
From "FYI, we already upgraded the PostgreSQL to version 14 using QPI. Not sure why the installer is still checking for the 12.5 folder." and the installer trying to reach the embedded postgres binary it sounds that after you successful migrated Postgres with the QPI and tested you didn't not proceed to remove/uninstall the embedded "Qlik Sense Repository Database"/Postgres .
I had the same issue when using the Qlik Sense February 2022 release (upgraded from the February 2021 release with postgreSQL 9.6), ran the QPI tool to upgrade from postgreSQL 9.6 to 14.8 and tried to install the February 2024 release.
I rebooted the server after waiting for 2 hours without any progress, de-installed the postgresql 9.6 version (search for PostgreSQL.msi file in the C:\ProgramData\Package Cache folder, right click and select uninstall). Then ran the installation of the February 2024 release again without any issues.
