Automatic crash dump in QlikView 11.20 SR13

Hello! According to an article "Enabling automatic crash dump in QlikView 11.20 SR13"  I can set up an automatic process dump for QVS. I added a parameter "MinidumpOnServiceRestart=1" in the Settings.ini, restarted by forcibly QVS process by tasskill program, but there was not a dump. Under what circumstances will dump of the process? Thank you!

Hi,

We also added this setting and found that it doesn't create the dump file when the service fails.

Did you ever get the setting to provide a dump file?

Does the 'C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\CrashDumps\' folder need to be manually created?

Thanks,

B

Hi,

Unfortunately, I did not specify the conditions under which the dump is created, but in the end I have it still created. I will try to contact the support QV, maybe there will give me the answer to this question. I'll let you know if something will be known on the subject

The response from tech support:

The dump file is a file with dmp extension that contains the memory at the time the server crashes and it can be opened with visual studio.

This file is generated when the service crashes ; you can produce crash dumps when the Engine.exe crashes on its own (typically under load in our small VMs). Killing a process isn't strictly speaking a crash. The process needs to crash on its own to produce a dump.

The file will be located in a Qlik's subfolder that will be automatically created ; you cannot change the location.
