May be a silly question, but we've been having discrepancy over the terminology of some things in QlikView. Specifically, we've been using the terms QlikView dashboard and QlikView application interchangeably.
Can someone verify these definitions? And maybe add any other relevant terms?
.QVD: QlikView data. Used as an optimized, intermediate file between QlikView and external data sources.
.QVW: QlikView application. Only includes frontend data (sheet objects, reports, etc.)
.QVX: QlikView data eXchange. A file/stream format for high performance data input into QlikView.
Sheet: A page in a QlikView application that contains sheet objects, etc.
Tab: Used to navigate across sheets.
Dashboard: One specific sheet within a QlikView application, shows high level details pertinent to that specific QlikView application.
Summary: 0 or many sheets within a QlikView application, shows high level details pertinent to one specific subject area.
Detail: 0 or many sheets within a QlikView application, shows low level details, typically about a summary sheet.
Thank you
Hi David,
I use the same definitions as yourself. Often I hear Dashboard/Application/Document being used interchangeably as well but application is the one I use to describe a .qvw file.
