Can Gold Client's Client Construct functionality be used to copy only part of the master data?

This question can actually have a double meaning and so for holistic purposes, both are addressed below.

  • Can the Client Construct functionality be used to copy only a subset of a particular master data object?

We will use the material master here as an example for this question. If the user wants to copy only selective materials, then the answer is no, this is not possible. This is because the Client Construct functionality only copies entire tables. If selectivity is required, then the user must leverage the Data Echo functionality instead.

  • Can the Client Construct functionality be used to choose which master data objects are copied versus copying all master data?

Yes, this is possible. Client Construct has its own configuration (framework) which for most customers will have around 90-100 data types. The user has the ability to choose one, some, or all data types when initiating the export.

It is important to note that the Client Construct functionality is principally used when loading master data into a new/empty client or as part of refreshing an existing client. As such, Qlik best practices recommend loading all master data types in order to have a high degree of data integrity in the target client.

Please reference the following documentation with respect to each area: Gold Client Client Construct User Guide, and Gold Client Data Echo User Guide.
