It may be necessary to export Data Connections to either move Data Connections between environments or to import Data Connections into the Qlik Analytics Platform (which doesn't have a front-end interface to easily recreate these connections).
To achieve this, keep in mind:
With these considerations in mind, Qlik Sense Desktop can be utilized to maintain a 'blank' QVF (No loaded data) that contains all the data connections needed for moving to a higher environment or bringing connections into QAP.
The information here is provided as-is and to be used at own discretion. Depending on tool(s) used, customization(s), and/or other factors ongoing support on the solution below may not be provided by Qlik Support.
Hi @Juli_K , I do not follow you. In your point 2 above which QVF are you asking us to open? If I export and use qvf from enterprise than it will not have any data connection in it??? . Can you please explain that point?
@Mr_Pearl the "Desktop" distinction is important here. Data Connections are stored in the app in Qlik Sense Desktop but not, as you have found, in Qlik Sense Enterprise. Please use Desktop as directed in the post.
Hello,
My client does not have Qlik Sense Desktop, They are moving their apps (qs server enterprise) to QAP server but they need to migrate their db connections too. Any other way to do that?
@Anonymous
Hello Land!
Data Connections in Qlik Sense can only be created through the Data Load Editor. Whether that is a Desktop Client or you interacting with an App in the Hub. As of such, if your client wishes to transfer data connections, they will either need to manually recreate them on the hub in the Data Load Editor, or have a .qvf app prepared that includes the data connections so they can import them.
You can recommend them to download the Desktop client and authenticate it to be able to create an app, which they can then store and re-import whenever necessary.
I was doing it with qs desktop for two connections, but later I tried Levi's script and it worked too.
Thanks to both.
Have a nice day.
Hi.
You can also use the Gitoqlok solution to migrate data connections between environments.
