How to change the settings.ini in QlikView Desktop and QlikView Internet Explorer Plugin

Find below how to change the settings.ini file for a user within QlikView Desktop and QlikView Internet Explorer Plugin.
 

1. Close any open instances of QlikView Desktop Client or Internet Explorer with the Plugin loaded.
   
   
2. On the client locate the file settings.ini for the current user. Backup the settings.ini before making any changes.
   
   The file can be found in the following location:
   
   C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikView\Settings.ini
   
   
3. Under the [Settings 7] section in settings.ini, create the setting wished setting like this example:
   
   [Settings 7]
   DisableRegistryInterface=1
   DisableLayoutChanges=0
   DisableScripting=1
   [...]​

Please note that there is not any built-in Qlik utility to propagate changes to the settings.ini files for multiple QlikView Desktop installations.

Upgrading the QlikView Desktop may revert the settings to default.
