After applying the Oracle July 2024 patch, the following error will be seen when working with compressed tables:

[ASSERTION       ]W:  A compressed row cannot be parsed for table  (oradcdc_parse.c:2640)

The error leads to missing records.

Only Oracle instances with compressed tables are affected.

Resolution

R&D addressed the compression warning and also another missing insert events.

Fix versions

  • 2023.11 and later
  • 2024.5 and later
Before rolling out the fix in production, always first test in UAT or other pre-release environments.

If you are uncertain whether or not you are using compressed tables, run the following query:

select owner, table_name, COMPRESSION,COMPRESS_FOR from dba_tables where compression='ENABLED'

Cause

Oracle July 2024 Patch with compressed tables.
RECOB-8914 by Qlik.

Environment

  • Qlik Replicate

We are encountering same issue. Two questions:

1. would Qlik 2023.11.724 solve the problem?

2 when would the patch be available for 23.5? You mentioned week 39. Please let us know specific date.

Thank you,

Kalpesh

Hi @kalpesh97

Are you encountering the following warning when working with compressed tables after applying the Oracle July 2024 patch?

[ASSERTION       ]W:  A compressed row cannot be parsed for table  (oradcdc_parse.c:2640)

If yes then there is no fix yet available in any Replicate version.

1. would Qlik 2023.11.724 solve the problem?

This patch resolves the Task crash issue that occurs after applying the Oracle July Patch on Oracle instances, but it does not address the compressed table issue.

2 when would the patch be available for 23.5? You mentioned week 39. Please let us know

Mostly by the end of this week.

I recommend opening a support case if you see the above warning message. We will collect the relevant redo log and share it with R&D to confirm if it's the same issue.

Thanks,
Swathi

Hi @Sonja_Bauernfeind  and @SwathiPulagam

Thanks Qlik Team! We have installed, tested and deployed in Test and then on our Prod the patch It works 100% fine!

Note that In our case we have reloaded all our SAP data from the log stream to make sure no missing records where forgotten. Load without any issue. Monitoring not showing errors like it should be!

Merci / Many thanks!

Nicolas

Hello @gseckin

This version would include the fix, yes.

Should you still run into issues I would recommend logging a ticket with support.

All the best,
Sonja
