Qlik Sense Desktop launch fails with "You cannot access the selected hub"

Authenticating the Qlik Sense Desktop or launching Qlik Sense Desktop fails with

You cannot access the selected hub because you have no access pass.

Resolution:

• Verify that a license has been assigned to the user.
• Is the user authenticated? Anonymous access needs to be disabled on the Virtual Proxy hosting the Authentication link. See Failed to open the selected hub - Cannot authenticate Qlik Sense Desktop against Qlik Sense Enterpri... 
• Verify that the Qlik Sense Enterprise server being authenticated against is not a TEST server. TEST servers do not allow for authentication.
