Environment:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows

#Any Qlik Products

Note:

Qlik Sense Installation or Upgrade tool flags an issue with 'Pending File Rename'.
This tool looks at the following registry key to see if anything is present:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

Cause:

If the key has any values, it means one or more files have been flagged for a rename. The flagging of the files occurs after a system restart or reboot has been performed. Normally, this action does not pose a problem for the Qlik Sense upgrade. The Qlik Sense upgrade might fail if either of the following conditions is met:

  • The file in question is one that Qlik Sense needs to replace.
    Or
  • The file exists within a folder that Qlik Sense needs to replace or rename.

Solution:

Perform a system restart on the server hosting Qlik Sense. This action removes any values from the PendingFileRenameOperations registry key.
