Qlik Sense: User with Analyzer license cannot reload app data
May 16, 2025 2:27:58 AM
Nov 27, 2018 9:04:07 AM
A Qlik Sense user with an Analyzer license cannot reload app data. The behavior persists in the hub or the Management Console and affects both on-premise and Qlik Cloud instances.
Environments
- Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows
- Qlik Cloud Analytics
Cause
This is working as designed. Analyzer licenses do not allow Update permissions, which are required for this operation.
The minimum rights requirements to reload an app are:
From the Qlik Sense Management Console or with QRS API (Client Managed)
- Read,update on the app
- Read,update on the task
- (Specific to QMC) Read on QmcSection_Task
From the hub or with Engine API (Client Managed and Qlik Cloud)
- Read,update on the app
- Read, update on the app objects in the app, which include the script
- Read on Data Connections used in the app
Resolution
To successfully reload apps, a user must be assigned a Professional license.
A user with Analyzer or Analyzer Capacity license cannot modify an app. Meaning even if they can use the button to reload, they will be unable to save any possible changes.
See Qlik Sense License for details on license models and examples.
Excerpt:
You allocate analyzer access to an identified user to allow the user to access streams and apps in the hub. The analyzer access is intended for users who consume sheets and apps created by others. A user with analyzer access cannot create, edit, or publish sheets or apps, but can create stories based on data in apps.
