Shared automation connections

The new shared capability for automation connections enables you to create and manage automation connections in shared spaces.
At a later stage, we will make it possible to also create and manage automations in shared spaces.
This article covers the following topics:
- Create automation connections in shared spaces
- Use shared connections in an automation
- Manage shared connections from the management console
1. Create automation connections in shared spaces
When you navigate to the overview page of a shared space, you will find a new "Automation connections" tab under the connections section. From here you can create new automation connections in the space and view the connections from you and other users.
2. Using shared connections in an automation
To configure a shared connection in an automation, you can go the automation editor and open the connection tab in the block configuration menu on the right. Here you can find a new "Select Space" filter that allows you to filter across the shared spaces you have access to.
Click the connection you want to use for the block or use the "Apply for all" button to add it to all blocks of that connector in the automation.
3. Managing shared connections from the management console
Changing the owner of a connection or moving it to another shared space is possible from within the management console. These actions are restricted to tenant admins as it could break existing automations.
Change owner
Changing the owner of a connection will allow you to reconnect without having to update any automations.
Note: this will reset the connection configuration (inc. credentials) and the new owner will be required to reconfigure the connection.
Move a connection
Through the "Move" action you can move a connection to another shared space or move a connection from a personal space to a shared space.
Note: Make sure that the owners of the automations where the connection is used also have access to the new space. If they do not have access to the new space, their automations will break.
Delete a connection
Deleting a connection will remove it from the space and any automations that are using the connection.
Note: Make sure that the connection is not used in any automation before deleting it. If it is used the blocks where it is configured will fail.

Hello,
If I create an Automation that uses the shared Connection and I change the owner of the Automation to another User, will the connection be retained (providing that new Owner has appropriate permissions to use the Automation connection in the Shared Space)?

Hi @youngaaron ,
Automations and automation connections are just linked to each other.
If the automation's connections are shared and the new owner has access to them, then they will remain connected.
If the connections are not shared or if the new owner can not access them then they will break when the ownership is changed.
Please note that we had a small bug to this behavior which has been resolved.

Thanks for confirming @Emile_Koslowski! I think I was experiencing that small bug last week. 🙂

Thanks, sharing automations with others in a shared space is a must have for us 🙂
