Qlik Sense Enterprise Saas supports 3 different capacity options:
- Default - Every Enterprise Tenant can use Apps up to 5 GB in memory
- “Expanded Apps” - A subscription add-on which supports Apps up to 10 GB in memory
- Dedicated Capacity - A subscription add-on which supports even larger applications
When talking about “in memory”, Qlik measures the static memory size, which includes variables and field values that may be calculated at run time. You can see the size of an Apps in the Management Console or you can use the App Analyzer App, to get a better understanding about the sizes of an App in the Tenant.
For Tenants which have Expanded Apps or Dedicated Capacity enabled, users are able to upload and use bigger Apps aligned with the subscription.
Expanded Apps or Dedicated Capacity has to be enabled on the “Space” level (checkbox on the screenshot below), and only those Apps stored in those Spaces where Expanded Apps or Dedicated Capacity is enabled are routed to special Engine pods which can support these bigger Apps.
If users attempt to open bigger Apps on spaces without this checkbox enabled they will be directed to standard capacity Engine pods and receive the following error message
This app is too big to be opened in this space
This should only be possible if an app which is bigger than 5 GB in memory, is not stored in a Space (Shared or Managed Space) which has Expanded Apps or Dedicated Capacity enabled.
