How to define levels of expertise?

How do you split levels of expertise in Qlik / how can you know when is right to take a certification?

On their website I think Qlik used to recommend a length of time to work with Qlik before certifications but they no longer do this, so I wanted some insight from people who might know what's best.

What skillset counts as a beginner and then what would be the next stage to this?
