Nprinting Web console url

Hi all,

I'm using Nprinting Sep 2018. Can I change its web console url https://servername:4994 to https://nprinting ? If yes, please advise how to do this?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I am not an expert in this, but i think you have 2 options:

  1. One - you could change ports to 443 for https or 80 for http and create dns name for your NPrinting server which would be your friendly name
  2. Upgrade to November 2018 which supports reversed proxy and put it behind it (this i have never tested, but i assumed based on explanations i have seen so far in release notes).

cheers

Lech

Thanks Lech for the swift reply. May I ask how do i create dns name for nprinting? I'm a noob in this area. Thanks!

I am a noob in this area too - all what i know is, that it is not a nprinting related topic and to create a dns for your nprinitng server you will have to talk to your network admin, as they will have to create a dns lookup in your domain.

The other thing which came to my mind now is, changing dns name for NPrinting server (if you have it already installed and configured) may require its re-installation - and again here i do not have an experience. To save muself trouble i would rather re-install everything from scratch with new dns name, but maybe there is a easier solution.

Lech

Hi,

You need to change the port from 4993 to the standard https port 443 by following these steps:

1) Stop the Qlik NPrinting WebEngine Windows service
2) Change the port(s) in the file  webengine.config which is in the same folder where the webengine runs, typically "NPrintingServer\NPrinting\WebEngine"

Change the settings:

<add key="webconsole-proxy-port" value="4993" />
<add key="newsstand-proxy-port" value="4994" />

and set the desired value for the ports.

3) Start the Qlik NPrinting WebEngine Windows service. Settings are read during service starting.

Best Regards,
Ruggero

Thanks for all your suggestions. Managed to ask a consultant from Qlik and he mentioned that we can't change the url (on version Sep 2018).
