Issue in NPrinting Reports generation using QlikView Server Connection

We are generating NPrinting reports which are using QlikView as a data source. To connect to QlikView we are using QlikView Server connection in NPrinting.

But every time the report generation in NPrinting gets stuck when the memory on the QVS server hits 83%. The working set for the QVS server is 80% - 85%.

Even after aborting the task is NPrinting the QVS sessions are not released until the QVS services are restarted.

Is thee a permanent solution for the same?

This looks to me like:

  • app is not designed well and causes memory exhaustion when NPrinting is using it - there is a lot to improve usually in this area
  • or server is just under-resourced which we will not be able to help with

There are no settings in NPrinting which you can use to limit QlikView server usage - It will open as many QV.exe sessions as many cores are available on the NPrinting engine server.

Hi,

Check that the QlikView document you are using not have unsupported objects or features listed in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2022/Content/NPrinting/GettingStarted/HowCreateConnections/...

Check that the Run Verifications have all green flags.

Check also that you have all the prerequisites listed in the help site page I linked before.

Be sure that the "Enable Push from Server" option is unchecked https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/NPrinting-diminished-execution-time-with-QVP...

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Just a couple of points to add as this 'can' happen when you have:

1. Unsupported Items in your QVW

Resolution: Unsupported QlikView Document item... - Qlik Community - 1714896

2. Shared NPrinting Service account.

Resolution: Dedicated NPrinting Server & Engine Service Accoun... - Qlik Community - 1716056

In your troubleshooting due diligence, recommend that you

1. double check the above.

2. ensure your NP engine/server computer has 2 or more CPUs/processes (required).

3. sufficient RAM, Diskspace on both the NP server and QV server. (note that the required minimums are install minimums and might be insufficient in scale to generate reports successfully within your specific environment)

4. Supported version of QlikVew which Nprinting is connecting to.

Kind regards...
