Limit the Groups imported via LDAP Import Task?

Hello amazing NPrinting stars,

Currently we have an Import task running which is importing hundreds of AD groups which are seen in the Groups page of NPrinting console.

How can we limit the groups being imported?

In the "Advanced" part of an Import task I can see "Additional group filters". Would this only limit the Groups being imported? I wonder whether putting a filter will also limit the Users being imported to only those that are part of the filtered groups.

Hi,

Yes, correct. Use the "Additional group filters" to insert filters wrote with the LDAP rules and syntax. Qlik NPrinting will send them to the LDAP server, so they are not processed by Qlik NPrinting, and the LDAP server will send back only the groups that are compliant with the filters.

Unfortunately there is not a mass groups delete feature.

Ruggero

Hi @Ruggero_Piccoli

Thanks for the info.

In the Settings tab there is "Remove groups not present in newest import sources"

If I were to apply a LDAP groups filter and run the import task with the above option ticked, would it remove the existing groups imported from the previous runs? And only import the ones as specified by the groups filter?

E.g.

1) So let's say you currently 500 groups imported with no filter. These are showing in the Groups page.

2) You update the Import Task with a groups filter AND tick the "remove groups not present in newest import sources". The filter would only return maybe 50 groups. These groups are already imported in Step 1 but now I have specified the future runs to ONLY import as per the filter.

Would that eliminate the other 450 groups after step 2?

Hi,

About the option "Remove groups not present in newest import sources" note that: "Only groups added in a previous run of the same import will be removed. Other groups, like those added manually, will not be removed."

So they will be removed only if they were created by a previous run of the same import task. So apply the filters on the import task that created them.

Ruggero
