Microsoft Office 365 and Qlik Nprinting

Hello everyone,

I have a question about if the local installed Microsoft Office 365 can compatible with Qlik Nprinting. 

In the System Requirement for Nprinting, it says that:

"Microsoft Office must be installed locally on computers where Qlik NPrinting Designer is installed if you plan to create and manage Excel, PowerPoint, or Word report templates. Microsoft Office 365 is not compatible with Qlik NPrinting Designer."

If I install Office 365 apps from Office 365 website(Which includes Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Would that works for the nprinting designer? Or I have to download each individual  Microsoft app(Word 2016, Excel 2016) for Desinger?

I am asking this because I tried re-install Office 365, Nprinting Designer and every solution I can find. It still give me the same error message:

"Qlik Nprinting Designer can't find a supported reporting template editor for the file (file path)

Error message:

Unspecified error."

I know this question has been asked a lot but I went through every solution still cannot fix it.

And forget to mention, the HTML, Pixel Perfect, PowerPoint editor works fine, only the Word, Excel editor  shows the error message. And I have the latest version for NP Designer, Service, Engine.

Thank you for clarifying that you were successfully able to use NPrinting PxP and HTML template editors. This verifies that the problem lies with your currently installed MS Office 'apps'.

The Office web 'apps' do not have the file structure and registry foundation that NPrinting Designer needs to operate normally. 

I believe the full offline installation pkg of supported MS offices versions are approximately about 2 GB in size available from Microsoft in ISO format (or other).

Also note that officially, Office 365 is not supported for use with NPrinting designer.

• Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported.
• Microsoft Office must be installed locally on computers where Qlik NPrinting Designer is installed if you plan to create and manage Excel, PowerPoint, or Word report templates. Microsoft Office 365 is not compatible with Qlik NPrinting Designer.
• You do not need Microsoft Office to manage QlikEntity, HTML, and PixelPerfect report templates.

Keep an eye on the June release of NPrinting and corresponding release notes as additional versions and types of installations of MS Office will be supported.

Yes that is a requirement that is not likely to change since NPrinting leverages and integrates MS Office within the NP designer's template editor to create NPrinting MS Office reports.

Keep in mind that you do not need office installed if you want to create the following types of reports:

• PixelPerfect
• QlikEntity
• HTML
