NPrinting Long User Import Time

Hello Folks,

I have an NPrinting system that takes a while (~12 hours) to import all the users.  What should my next move be to shorten this process?  I know I can get a larger servers, but are there transaction settings on the DB that I might be able to look into?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The import will also fail, complaining about a deadlock if that helps.

Here are the specs

16GB of RAM

Processor Below (It's running the import right now which is why it's pegged out)

Hi @justindallasverizon

This tells you the story. If it stays maxed out like this for whole import time you know you can easily add another 4 or even lot more CPU cores on top of what you have.

In your case you are running extreme minimum resources and loading extreme large volume of users so one of 2 things needs to happen:

  • add more resources (you definitely can and should do it in this case)
  • or load much less users (you probably can't do it)

cheers

@Lech_Miszkiewicz You are completely on point with your responses.

Further R&D suggests to consider breaking up recipient imports into smaller, separate recipient imports.

Wow.

How is RAM consumption?

Is it possible to add more resources to this server? Even though you can split the tasks, the server is pretty small and increasing it might resolve the symptom you are facing.

Good luck

I was able to convince the hardware folks that we needed more horsepower.  When the change is made, I will note the performance and update this post to help others.
