Qlik Sense Certificate to Qlik Nprinting verification connection errors on Certificates

Hello,

We are having a problem configuring connections between Qlik Nprinting (February 2021) and Qlik Sense (February 2021).

As you will see in the attached image, the error message indicates a problem with the certificates installed for a connection to Qlik Sense.

We imported the installation certificates (client.pfx; root.cer; server.pfx) as described in our installation procedure. But these other certificates (client_engine ; client_scheduler ; client_webengine) do not have the security key which seems necessary.
Can you tell us how to install these certificates?
How do I assign them a security key?
How to generate them?

Thanks for your support.

Hi,

To connect Qlik NPrinting with a Qlik Sense server you need only the client.pfx certificate. After creating the connection do a Run Verification to be sure that everything is flagged in green.

Ruggero

Hi,

Please refer to the instruction in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/NPrinting-...

Be sure to export the certificate from Qlik Sense as described in the guide because the error could be caused by wrong exporting options.

QmcCertificatesInstaller was used on old Qlik NPrinting versions, the ones that supported connections only to a single Qlik Sense server. The new procedure, linked in previous posts, is simpler and supports connections to multiple Qlik Sense servers. The Troubleshooting page is not updated. I will ask to the documentation team to correct.

Ruggero

What instractions have you followed - please provide the link so we can understand your steps?

What you are showing here is definitely not part of https://help.qlik.com instructions on how to install certificates properly. You say "But these other certificates (client_engine ; client_scheduler ; client_webengine) do not have the security key which seems necessary." Where have you taken those certificates from, why do you think you should have them at all?

Before attempting anything else make sure you study thoroughly documentation, follow all the steps as described in help document. For the error from your screenshot, instructions are clear and they definitely not involve creating some "scheduler, engine or webengine" certificates.

Error ingformation in help document: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/Troubleshooting/Verify-connection-to...

Steps to follow (they are also in the link): https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/NPrinting-with-...

If you still have issues then make sure you meet all requirements for the environment which is also described in help document:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/GettingStarted/HowCreateConnections/...

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Planning-your-d...

All requirements MUST be met!

cheers

Lech

@Eurheca

The information provided by @Lech_Miszkiewicz is essential for accurately setting up your NPrinting Environment connected with Qlik Sense.

It is not clear where you receive instruction to modify the Certificates in the way you proposed.

If you stick with the documented steps you should have success.

When exporting your QS certificates from Qlik Sense, it is critical to follow the steps accurately in the help page shared above and copied again below for your convenience.

The above steps also describe the location to place the client.pfx file on the NPrinting server. (and remember, do not use a password when exporting the client.pfx certificate out of Qlik Sense)

You may encounter other problems if you haven't correctly configured your NPrinting service account, for example, so as suggested in the previous post, you need to ensure all setup and configuration is completed for a fully successful NP connection verification and connection reload.

Kind regards...

Hello,

Thanks for your useful help. We are trying to follow correctly all the steps you shared with us.

I will keep in touch with you about the results.

But I have a question, is it possible that the Qlik sense certificates exportation just give client.pfx and not the other ones: server.pfx and root.cer ?

Regards.

In fact, we have set the client.pfx certificate in the indicated folder (C:\Program Files\NPrintingServer\Settings\SenseCertificates) and have run again the connection verification but still the same error of the type "the installed certificates are not valid for a connection to Qlik Sense". In this article Erreurs de type Vérifier la connexion lors de la configuration d'une connexion à des applications Ql... it is recommended to export and then install the certificates via the QmcCertificatesInstaller and it seems to require at least the client.pfx and server.pfx certificates. We are trying to passe this step. Are we on the right path ?

Hello,

I'm happy to announce that our qlik sense certificates problem is now solved. But we are facing another one concerning the proxy adress and the identity. What rules must the proxy adress respect ? Our identity is the account registered as root admin in QMC and already successfully used to set a former version of Nprinting. It has all the credentials needed.
