Data folder migration - The given master user password is incorrect

Hi Support,

We are receiving an error upon trying to follow instructions from this existing support article to migrate a data folder between two servers: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/How-to-Move-the-Data-Directory-to-a-Differen...

After following all the steps so far. We are seeing an issue when trying to execute the "RepUiCtl.exe masterukey set" command

A screenshot of error is here and I am unable to find any information on this error. Can anyone please point me to the cause? It would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mohammed

Not sure, Maybe you need to provide a "-d <datadirectory> " after the RepUiCtl.exe, before masterukey

But that's be tricky as to which data directory to provide - old or new.

My guess is the tool could not access <product_dir>\Data\GlobalRepo.sqlite .

CMD ... RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and try again?

Hello

Did you provide a password that was generated with the command "RepUiCtl.exe utils genpassword" ?

Hi Boaz,

Thanks for the reply. Yep, the password was from the "RepUiCtl.exe utils genpassword" command which is why I'm confused. I've actually tested this migration on my own environment and it has worked. First time I've seen this issue though and I can't find anything about it.

Kind Regards,

Mohammed

Hi Hein,

It looks like this was the solution. There were multiple data folders in the filesystem and we had to select the correct one.

For anyone else reading this, we used the file path of the new data folder that we just imported from the source machine.

Kind Regards,

Mohammed

Hi Steve,

I believe the source version was older than the new server's version.
