QLIK REPLICATE what is current release level to consider upgrading to.

I support a customer on release  7.4.5 and being the first time on this vendor site, so far i have yet to locate a simple product by release by maintenance level location on website to ask the vendor what is the current release/maintenance to get to. CHATBOT doesn't even recognize the product can be z/OS based, just window or linux.

Help?!?!?!

The very first, and pinned topic in this forum indicates what the current release is, what changed and how to get it. Why does that not answer your question?

A problem for me is that you indicate -  release  7.4.5 Where did you get that from? I don't recall the version but I could easily have missed that. Current version is 2011.21 and prior was 2021.05

If you can, share a (partial) screen shot of the UI with the version and/or share the first line from a recent reptask log file (obfuscate the server address as desired). Note this is a trick question - if you don't know how to get that first line, then you have no business trying to support your customer 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi @Apytrails
Please note that this is a Qlik Sense forum, perhaps you would be better to ask in the Qlik replicate forum here:

Thanks! Being a first time to this vendor website, you can tell the confusion in finding a generic entry point to ask a basic vendor question, versus a power user HOW To type of question. Much appreciated.

So as I learn more about this ATTUNITY product rebranding to maybe QLIK REPLICATE or not, this product level question may need to start with what is QLIKTECH posture on the ATTUNITY product to get me to the proper technical team to ask these support questions to. How quickly can I get confirmed I am on right product line or not?

Welcome to my Confusing world. Since my last update,  I have now learned that on the IBM mainframe ( operatins system z/OS 2.3) the ATTUNITY REPLICATE product (Attunity Replicate)  was rebranded as Qlik Replicate™ .

The release 7.4.5, is what GLIKTECH company has worked out with IBM and their tool TADz ( Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS) software asset discovery tool, has located the ATTUNITY REPLICATE mainframe executable supplied by one of the vendor companies in the past to this mainframe environment. that tool has detected the release level is 7.4.5 from something within the executables themselves. If you need more details, you will need to reach out to IBM. AS you can see, I am not a user of the tool, I support the software deployment of the product for my customer's end use. I am learning what it does from this effort. My assumption ( right or wrong) is that their is mainframe executables that we need to download and deploy to move it from the ATTUNITY release support style to the QLIKTECH support style. I am still not 100% sure, I am working with correct product tower/team, since i see QLIK REPLICATE shows WINDOWS and LINUX support but not IBM z/OS. If the produce support is based on how an end user accesses the product, I would guess ( and validate) if they are WINDOW based. Would that help you state we should be pulling down 2021.05 ( which foreign to my mainframe POV that we had 7.4.5 that the mainframe is reporting is the release) and following the steps to upload the mainframe component if needed. Or we supply the 2021.05 WINDOW release just to end users to deploy.

This is all of 2 days of learning about this product, so any ATTUNITY/QLIK REPLICATE install manual may be a good starting point for us to learn how to support this for the customer, since they shared little on the support before passing it over.

Any of that help explain my confusion of mainframe support versus non-mainframe product support?

Just trying to relate the different pieces of data on how ATTUNITY did support and QLIKTECH does support of this product these days.

Thanks for all of your patience!

All right, it starts to make a little more sense.

You see, the Qlik (Formally Attunity) Replicate product runs in principle on a 'middle' server which can only be Windows or Linux. It connects to source and target database typically with a zero-footprint connection to the databases. There are  a few exceptions such as OpenVMS and Z/os LUW - some labelled ARC based. Those DB components are often still called Attunity and quit possibly out of full support.  Check out the support Matrix first?

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/November2021/pdf/Replicate-Support-Matrix.pdf

I'm quite sure you should NOT try to upgrade.

Just leave well enough alone.

Reach out to Qlik support for official advice, once you know a little more about the product and components in play.

I am 100% happy with the supplied responses to my ATTUNITY support question.

Very much appreciated on your patience.

FYI, "The rest of the story...." is when I relayed this information back to my end user, they stated they didn't mean ATTUNITY upgrade, but a different product and vendor. Delightful!

Thanks for the follow up and we can close this topic out.

Cheers!
