Howdy,
I made the mistake of putting a version number in a deployed dashboard with 25 doc cal users.
Does anyone have a recommendation on how i can change my file from "SalesLog_v1" to "SalesLog" so i can more easily roll out updates while keeping doc cal assignments, reload schedules, etc. by just overwriting the production qvw?
I want to make a smooth cut-over...so my doc cal users don't even know something changed. I wish there was a way i could change the file name of the qvw and in qmc to match?
Any ideas?
Thank you,
-David
Yup ..
1) Backup current "Sales_V1.qvw" ( I always append the day's date to the backed up file before moving it to a back up folder..always make sure the file name is right ..so that you don't end up losing doc cals ..instead of typing the filename I copy the old file name then paste it to the new one)
1) remove DOC Cals
2) remove/delete scheduled Tasks
3) Create a new task/job same as the old one ( but qvw would be "Sales.qvw")
4) assign doc cals to the new qvw, then permission on which user can access it ...etc
Yes, You can..btw you might have lost some document cals after renaming the document .
1) Before deleting SalesLog_v1, make sure you de- allocate all the cals that where assigned to it.Then delete the task associated with that document ,then delete the document
2) you can upload a new qvw ( SalesLog) ,create a job, assign licenses.
3) every time you make changes in the qvw, you can replace the old one with the new one make sure the document name remains the same.(Also back up the old file just in case)
Do I run into the 24 hour quarantine if i want to move the doc cals between the old and new dashboard?
I am still running a file with "Sales_v1.qvw" and want to change it to just "Sales.Qvw" for update ease
yes, you'll have to wait for 24 hours to move doc cals
Is your recommendation...
1) remove DOC Cals
2) remove scheduled Tasks
3) Backup current "Sales_V1.qvw"
4) Change file name to "Sales.qvw"
5) Is this where i HAVE to wait 24 hours? Can i allocate, and then wait...how does this work?
6) Add Doc Cal users and re-schedule tasks?
Much thanks
-David
Is this why IT people have to work weekends ??? haha
Yup ..

Awesome, thank you
Man...that's a real pain that this could be done in 20 minutes - but has to be done over 24 hours
I hear you David..waiting for 24 hours is a pain in the neck.:-)
I would just create a new task same as the old one....with a different file name
Believe me reclaiming the doc cals from the server is a real pain in the neck
Just finished my rollout and Qvw name update, your instructions and help were PERFECT. thanks for the guidance
