All, is it possible to copy certain files into QVPR and have the jobs automatically re appera with all the triggers and dependancies?
We upgraded from SR2 to SR3 and lost all jobs. Without having to recreate the wheel, can I not copy over certain files and have it all back? I have the old folder saved off on another drive so I have access to all of the files. I just cannot seem to put the right "Puzzle" together for all of it to work
Any Ideas?
James,
Why did upgrading to SR3 make you lose all your jobs?
I think this is possible. I've never tried it with ALL tasks, but since it definitely works with 1 task I don't see why not. Stop the Distribution, Management, and Publisher services. Here are the files that you will need to copy (replacing the files that are there):
Once the files have been replaced, you can start the stopped services. I think that should do the trick. Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
I will test this out.. We lost the jobs cause we wanted to test out the ability to replace xml files. So basically it was a clean install. Thanks Vlad
No good, now I lost all source documents. I copied back all of the data in publisher and now Im back to where i was
OK, stop your services again. I think the problem is the DistributionServiceID field in the following files:
This field probably contains the old values, so you need to update it for each document. You can get the proper value from the DistributionService.xml file (the corresponding field in that file is called DSCID). I would also check the QVSResourceID field in DistributionDetail.xml and make sure you copy the proper value from QlikviewServerResource.xml. Finally, check the 3 workorder files and make sure no old resource IDs are there (I think there should not be any problem with these files, but you can never be too sure). Then start your services again.
Regards,
Did this work?
it didnt work from what I recall...
Not for us either
If you have temp license, You can try copying the files using remote management services.
